This is the most important issue facing the district right now. The waste left behind by Raybestos/Raymark is not only a serious health issue for our residents, but it also hinders our economic development by making us nearly unmarketable to promote new business growth and making current business' and homes unsellable.

As 3rd district councilman it will be my job, if elected, to be a loud vociferous voice in the face of the EPA and DEP. It will be my job to let them know that we, as the residents of Stratford, will settle for nothing less than all the money we need to do this job right the first time. Residential properties need to be remediated immediately and homes in affected areas need to be outfitted with monitoring/ventilation systems now. Digging up waste to move it around town is unacceptable. Caps that will have to be addressed 20 years from now by our children are unacceptable.

I will work with all our elected officials to try to meet this end. This is a generational issue and we have to be concious of the fact that what we do today has a direct effect on those who come after us, and it is our duty to hand them the best possible situation we can.

I will also embrace grassroots organizations like Save Stratford who have been doing the grunt work already and for that we should be greatful. Please visit www.savestratford.org for a wealth of info and to get involved if you are not already.
