Our current lack of an Economic Develpment Director is a serious problem for the town and is an issue that the next mayor has to address immediately. If elected I will urge the mayor to make an investment in Stratford by hiring an Economic Development professional to fill the void left by the firing of the last EDD by the current mayor. This hire cannot be a patronage position because we need to hire someone with vision and energy to serve the interests of the town aggressively without the fear of losing their job every election cycle.
We as a town have tremendous potential but we need a viable economic development office to tie our assets together into a marketing package that will spur the growth we need to ease the tax burden on the homeowners. Right now the tax burden is squarely on the homeowner which threatens our most valuable asset, the townspeople themselves.
